My name is Catherine and I am your doll maker. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve absolutely loved dolls. To me, dolls were sweet companions with whom my little sister and I could escape into beautiful worlds full of magic and comfort.
My sister and I made our dolls guests of honor at picnic outings and built forts for them under trees. We read to our dolls, fed them, made clothes for them, took them with us when we traveled and tucked them into bed with us at night. To us, our dolls were members of our family, and we treated them that way. They made our hearts happy in a special way that nothing else could. I know from experience that little girls and boys can enter into magical relationships with their dolls. For this reason, when I was pregnant with my first child I spontaneously made my first hand-sewn doll, eager for my child to experience the same dolly magic. Today, twenty-three years later, I answer an equally spontaneous call in my heart to become a doll maker, hoping that I can play a role in connecting more children with the magic that dolls can stir in our hearts. As well as reawakening the playfulness in the hearts of adults! |
